The Ring topology is very in the data communications area. It is supported by two primary standards: (1) the Token Ring (IEEE 802.5) and (2) FDDI (ANSI X3T9). In this topology, each node is connected to its adjacent nodes in a "ring".
The LOGICAL COUNTER-ROTATING RING (illustrated) is where nodes are connected in single or dual rings. Data is counter-rotating, transmitting in opposite directions. If one loop fails, the other will loop back allowing the nodes to function normally.
